Putignano

The stately buildings and the colors of the Carnival.

Past and present blend harmoniously between the “chianche” – local stone – of the ancient village where the narrow alleys reveal the priceless value of history. On Plebiscito Square one can admire the Romanesque Church of Saint Peter Apostle and the Romanazzi-Carducci Palace, noble residence of the Prince, recently restored to the citizenship as a Civic Museum.

Putignano is known all over the world for its Carnival during which the papier-mâché artisans create majestic allegorical wagons that parade through the city amazing adults and children.
